Podcast: July 1, 2017

Flood Brothers Disposal presents The Skinny & Houli Show and this show is a firecracker, as we kick off the 4th of July weekend. We welcome brilliant young musician Kavan Donohoe from County Cavan, aka “Kavan from Cavan” a food scientist working here in Chicago for the last year who is an accomplished harpist, flute player, and Uilleann Pipes master. Kavan puts on an impressive show with the pipes as he performs a variety of tunes and has the waitresses at Lizzie’s swooning for the dashing young Irish musician. Here’s a video we posted of Kavan performing “Blackbird” on the show.

Then former Division One college basketball coach and Irish fiddle aficionado Rus Bradburd drops by to talk up his book, “Paddy on the Hardwood“, a funny and incisive record of his two year career coaching professional basketball in Tralee, Ireland of all places. Rus tells us some great stories and then he and Kavan perform a tune together to take us out, which Rus compares to “playing basketball with Michael Jordan!” Fun show, don’t miss this one!
