Podcast: April 29, 2017

Flood Brothers Disposal presents The Skinny and Houli show and our hosts begin the show by looking back over the successful Special Olympics Spring Games Opening Ceremony at Soldier Field. Our first guest this week is the CEO of The 100 Club of Chicago Joe Ahern. Joe is one of the first people to visit the families of fallen firefighters, policemen or first responders after their deaths and his job is to give the bereaved family a cheque to help them pay for the children’s education and needs. They’ve given away over $10 million in 50 years! It’s a great cause and any donation, big or small can be made to the link above. Joe tells us about the valour awards, how he got started in the job and he has some stories about families they’ve helped over the years. Our second guest is Brendan O’Brien from Reilly’s Daughter and he tells us about some fundraisers coming up including one to help pay for Whitey O’Dea’s medical expenses after his recent stroke. This will be on May 20th at Reilly’s so make sure to get down there for a good cause! The craic between these three is great and they get deep into a discussion about the pros and cons of Facebook. As always we have our ‘Who Died?’ segment and we hear a great song and a favorite of Houli’s, by Conal Gallen called ‘Horse it into ya, Cynthia’. A mighty show this week with some great guests, so be sure to have a listen!
