Podcast: September 13, 2014 – 5th Anniversary Special

5th Anniversary celebration of The Skinny & Houli Show features Consul General of Ireland Aidan Cronin  on the show as we discuss his tenure in Chicago and upcoming plans for the 1916 centennial celebration in Ireland and Chicago. Aidan talks of the great history of the Irish in Chicago, the potential for Irish citizens abroad to potentially vote in the future. Cronin lauds the centennial for an opportunity to discover “where we’ve been, where we’re going, and the opportunity to proclaim Ireland to the world once again.” Also much talk of the Chicago premiere of Irish film, “A Terrible Beauty” coming to the Siskel Film Center Sept. 26 & 28th upcoming visit by TD Jimmy Deenihan, special ambassador to the Diaspora and his potential visit to Chicago in the fall. 

Then the lovely and talented Irish fiddler Teresa Shine joins us for some music and talk of her wedding last month to CPD Sargent Brian Devan at Chief O’Neill’s.

This podcast features an extended version of the show as we once again welcome 2014 & 2013 St. Pat’s Parade Queens Lauren Catinella and Bridget Fitzgerald as they promote the Halfway to St. Patrick’s Day Party coming up on Friday, Sept. 19th at Plumbers Hall.
